Chefs duke it out in Battle of the Burgers

| May 16, 2018 5:32 PM

The second annual Battle of the Burgers is shaping up to be a true battle royale, with last-minute challengers throwing their buns in the ring to compete for the title of Best Burger in the Big Sky.

The main event, set for Saturday, May 19 from noon to 3 p.m. at the Cypress Yard in Whitefish, will feature at least eight different restaurants from Whitefish and beyond, including last year’s “People’s Choice” champion – Piggyback Barbeque.

Others already confirmed for the Burger Battle include: the Craggy Range Bar and Grill, Cartwright Catering, Casey’s, Markus Foods Deli, Mudman Burgers and Front Porch Grill House out of Eureka.

In addition to sampling the some of the Flathead Valley’s best burgers, attendees will taste a variety of microbrews from Great Northern Brewing Company and enjoy live music by the Belton Blues Band, and soak-in a bit of warm Montana sunshine outdoors at Cypress Yard.

What’s at stake? How about the bragging rights that go along with being named the undisputed Burgermeister of Big Sky Country, as determined both by a vote of the people and a panel of expert judges. Expect the chefs to go all-out to impress the judges and event-goers alike with their take on the ultimate burger.

New this year is a second judging category for the “Best Grilled Entrée,” which should add just a little more fuel to the competitive fire.

Tickets are $30 online at www.FeastWhitefish.com. For more information, call the Whitefish Chamber at 862-3501.
