Bigfork's Berreth, Reichenbachs state tennis champs

GREAT FALLS — Bigfork’s Ellie Berreth and Clayton and Colton Reichenbach captured Class B-C state girls singles and boys doubles tennis titles on Saturday.

Berreth defeated Michaela Gunderson of Choteau 6-2, 6-1 in the final. Berreth, a senior, did not drop a set at the three-day event.

She topped Emily Clotfelter of Fairfield in the semifinals 6-0, 6-3, and Melanie Benson of Missoula Loyola in the quarterfinals 6-1, 6-3.

She rolled past Emma Hopwood of Clark Fork in the opening round 6-0, 6-0.

Berreth finished fifth at state last year.

The Reichenbachs beat David Ramsey and Dan Kaleva of Loyola in the championship match 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.

Earlier, the Bigfork duo won 6-0, 6-2 over Jette Pruttis and Ron Barnhill of Conrad; 6-4, 6-3, over Aidan McCloy and Caleb Colwell of Valley Christian; and 7-6 (7), 6-1 over Leroy Wilson and Joe Freze of Anaconda.

Bigfork’s head coach, Paul Sullivan Jr., won a doubles state championship at Bigfork in 2000 alongside Danny Day.

Those perfomances also helped Bigfork cash in on the team front. The girls tied Fairfield for second while the boys were third.
