Polson still battling at state A softball
FRENCHTOWN — Polson bounced back from an 8-1 loss to Belgrade by beating and eliminating Lewistown 7-1 to stay alive in Class A state softball action on Friday.
Polson (20-5) will play Frenchtown today at 9 a.m. with the winner advancing to the third-place game at 11. The 11 a.m. winner will play either Belgrade or Hamilton for the championship at 1 p.m. If a second championship game is needed in the double-elimination tournament, it will follow at 3.
Polson opened state play on Thursday by topping Frenchtown 10-7. Polson trailed 7-0 in that contest.
The Pirates had a first-round bye.
Frenchtown posted three wins on Friday, beating Hardin 22-0, Havre 10-0 and Miles City 10-0.
Libby (14-10) and Columbia Falls (13-10) were both eliminated during second-day action. Lewistown blanked Libby 3-0 while Butte Central edged Columbia Falls 10-9.

HELENA — Great Falls C.M. Russell pulled away late to eliminate Glacier from the state tournament at Batch Fields.
The loser-out game was tied at 3-all after the first inning and Glacier added a run in the second to go in front 4-3.
CMR, however, outscored Glacier 14-2 in the final three innings to blow it open.
CMR outhit Glacier 17-5.
Addie Labrum homered twice for Glacier (13-9) and Kynzie Mohl had one home run. Allie Meyer and Alivia Atlee singled for the Wolfpack.
