Lights on, but no one is home

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office found a charcoal-colored Chevy half-ton crew cab pickup running in a parking lot with the lights on and driver window down. The truck was nearly out of gas. Deputies searched the area, but couldn’t locate anyone. The vehicle was secured, the keys were collected and placed in the lost and found.

Someone called to report a large, black dog named ‘Shooter’ in the yard. She said she was afraid of the animal’s owner because the last time she found the dog, he got nasty with her.

A bow-legged man was told to stay out of all West Glacier businesses because he making the female employees nervous. He was described as having long, gray hair and wearing a baseball cap, shorts and hiking boots.

A man was taken to the hospital after he stumbled and fell into a window, cutting his hand. He apparently came home from the bar after having had too much to drink. When 911 was called, the man left because he didn’t want to get into trouble with his probation officer. He then returned home and hid in the basement wall where he was eventually removed by officers.

A man called to report a group of four youths who were “playing chicken” on the railroad tracks at the intersection of Flathead Drive and E. Oregon St. The man had confronted them about being on the tracks, but they refused to get off them. Officers were unable to locate the youths.

A female called to report her mother’s boyfriend had shut off the water while she was at work. He also told them to get out, but he is not the owner. The person said the boyfriend had been on a drunken bender for two or three days. An officer called and left a message for the man.

Someone called to report their 3-year-old son was attacked and bitten on the head by a dog. The person took the child to the hospital.

Someone called the Columbia Falls Police Department to report suspicious activity. It turned out to be a woman watching the river.

A person called to report loud music being played by people in cars in the parking lot. When an officer arrived, the people had “shut it down” for the night.

Someone called the Whitefish Police Department to report a possible scam attempt. The person received a phone call from someone claiming to be a member of the police department and that they were doing a benefit concert to support an anti-drug program. An officer said he didn’t know about any benefit concert.

A person called to report a man who was kicked out of a bar and had broken the plexiglass and gate.
