Kathleen 'Kathy' Sharrow Taylor, 71

| November 13, 2018 2:00 AM

Kathy Taylor passed away Nov. 9, 2018, after a valiant battle with lung cancer.

Born July 18, 1947, to Augustin and Rita Donovan Sharrow in Jamaica, Queens, New York, Kathy grew up in Valley Stream, New York. She attended an all-girl Catholic Dominican Commercial High School in Jamaica, Queens, graduating in 1965.

In March 1970 she eloped and married John E. Taylor in Tucson, Arizona. After traveling the rodeo circuit with her husband, they returned to Kalispell in the early ‘70s. Kathy worked for Bell Manufacturing as comptroller and then the telephone company. She started on the switchboard and retired as manager of the Customer Service department at CenturyTel.

When Kathy and John retired, they became snowbirds between Kingman, Arizona, and Kalispell. They traveled between the two homes until October 2012 when John passed away. The following year, Kathy fulfilled her dream of living on a golf course by moving to Village Greens in Kalispell. Kathy was so impressed with the care John received at Kalispell Regional Medical Healthcare that she became a volunteer there as a greeter and helping at the information desk. She also served on the KRH volunteer board and executive board.

Kathy’s battle with lung cancer started in April 2018. Kathy was staying with her niece, Carolyn, in Butte at the time of her death.

The family would like to thank Dr. Hunt and the Kalispell Cancer Center and staff, Dr. Linam and the Northwest Montana Radiation and Oncology staff in Kalispell, and Drs. Massouh and Gallaher and the St. James Cancer Center staff in Butte.

Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Taylor (2012), her parents Augustin Sharrow (1988) and Rita Donovan Sharrow (2002), and her adopted son Patrick Kain (2008).

She is survived by her brother Roy (Mary) Sharrow of Mineola, New York; cousins, Patricia (Leonard) Urban of Huntington, New York, Susan (Joseph) Volpe of South Merrick, New York, Patricia (Yvonne) Reilly of Brooklyn, New York, and Lynn Reilly of New York; sister-in-law, Rosella (Lee) Isaacson, of Kalispell; nieces, Carolyn (Bob) Cornelius of Butte, Rhonda (John) Tuin of Carson City, Nevada, and Wendy Larson of Columbia Falls; nephews, Gary Taylor of Denver, Ed (Virginia) Proefrock of Hillsboro, Oregon, Dean (Sheila) Proefrock of College Place, Washington, Bob Derosia of Columbia Falls, Gregory Sharrow of Mineola, and Christopher (Nadia) Sharrow of Charlottesville, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice or an animal shelter.
