Michael Edward Micklewright, 57

Michael Edward “Mike” Micklewright, born on Oct. 30, 1961 in an U.S. Air Force hospital in Izmir, Turkey, to the late Edith E. Micklewright and Raymond W. Micklewright, passed away at age 57 on Nov. 10, 2018, in Whitefish.

Mike traveled around the world with his Air Force family and ended up in Colorado Springs in 1970 where his dad retired. Mike went to Mitchell High School where he played baseball and football and graduated in 1979. He went on to play football at the University of Southern Colorado Pueblo.

Mike enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1982 and served on the USS Midway. When he got out of the Navy in 1985 he lived off the land in the wilderness of Idaho and Montana for a couple of years before settling in Whitefish. He loved to play golf and became a member of the PGA and worked as a golf instructor in Whitefish.

Mike is survived by his daughters, Alex Micklewright and Quinn Micklewright; stepchildren, Sara Torgenrud and Shane Widdifield; brothers, Raymond P., Jeff and Dave; sister, Anne; and grandchildren, Nolan and Arlo Weisser; and many friends.

A celebration of life will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, at Montana Taphouse.
