Lone Pine/Herron Park Challenge begins

The Lone Pine/Herron Park Challenge now underway encourages participants to hike to the top of Lone Pine or Herron Park lookout 30 times in 31 days during October.

The unique directive, left in plastic bags along the trails, instructs people to take a picture of themselves on top of either hill with a rock with their numbered day on that rock and post it on Facebook or Instagram. The instructions also encourage hikers to leave encouraging notes for their friends.

“No matter what the conditions, or what time it is, or however busy you get...there are no excuses,” the challenge instructions note.
