GREAT FALLS — This one didn’t slip away from the Glacier Wolfpack.

After several near misses, Glacier (2-5) held on to edge Great Falls High 42-38 in a wild Class AA football game at Memorial Stadium on Friday night.

The Bison (4-3) scored with 1:07 left, but Glacier blocked the PAT kick to keep the margin at four points.

Glacier then recovered the onside kick and ran out the clock.

Glacier led 28-12 at the half thanks to an 80-yard run and an 80-yard kickoff return by Preston Blain.

Blain also ran for another score.

“He had a huge night,” Glacier coach Grady Bennett said.

The win snapped a two game skid for the Wolfpack. It also marked the second time this season Glacier scored 40 or more points. The first time was Sept. 14 at home over then No. 3 ranked Helena High, 48-14.

“So proud of the kids for their resiliency,” Bennett said.

“They continue to believe and beat a good team on the road in a touch stadium to play.”

Glacier is back in action Friday at home versus Helena Capital.

“I can’t say enough about the character of our kids,” Bennett added.

“‘They hang in there, work, believe. I’m proud of them.”
