Rub-a-dub-dub, call the cops

| October 5, 2018 6:54 PM

Someone driving past called the Whitefish Police Department to report an overflowing hot tub in an apartment above a liquor store. It was running across the road and dispatch advised that this was not a police matter.

A caller said there was a momma bear and two cubs up a tree and the residents had surrounded it and took photographs. There was also a mention of someone “training their dog” by the tree, but it wasn’t clear what that meant. The bears did eventually leave the tree and were moved along. The next day there were more calls about the bears. One caller was told to not bother the family while another said the bears weren’t doing anything concerning.

A pocket dial originated from a teacher at the middle school. He wasn’t sure why his phone dialed 911.

A caller reported to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office that there were cows in her backyard and she believed a fence might have been down. An animal control officer made contact with the owners and they were en route to take care of the animals.

The dark bay horse was loose again in the Columbia Falls area.

A woman decided to press charges after her husband’s ex-wife was seen on video camping out at her home.

A man in the Whitefish area said a transient had been trespassing on his property and on one occasion, the interloper started a fire that grew large enough that the fire department had to be called.

A business owner called about his missing sign. He later determined that it was blown off in the wind storm recently.

A man stopped at a gas station to put air in his tires and he left his wallet outside after driving away. When he returned, it was gone. He asked store employees to allow him to look at the video footage, but they refused. The man would have to wait until the morning when the store manager could review the security camera.

A man reported a young deer was stuck in his fence. A game warden was in the area and said he’d come to help.

Someone said a deer that had been hit by a vehicle needed to be dispatched. The caller reported back that the owner had taken care of it and was going to apply for a salvage tag.

A buckskin mare showed up at a caller’s house and he tied it to back of his truck. He watered and fed the horse and would keep it for the night until its owner could be located.

A mistaken 911 call resulted when a woman rolled over on her phone.

Someone reported a man flailing on the ground. He was an intoxicated pedestrian.

A person reported a kid had thrown golf balls at vehicles on Nucleus Avenue. The owners of a nearby gym said the suspect had practiced short distance shots but never attempted to hit the building.
