Flathead man faces federal weapons charges

A Flathead Valley man is facing several federal charges after authorities said he illegally provided dynamite and an improvised grenade to others on two separate occasions earlier this year.

According to an indictment filed in U.S. District Court in Missoula Oct. 4, Bruce Boone Wann, 61, gave an improvised grenade to a person in Marion on June 21. Then, on June 22, authorities allege he gave dynamite to someone in Kila on June 22.

Authorities said he is not licensed to provide such materials.

Wann is also facing charges of possessing a RPB Industries .45-caliber machine gun, two silencers that had the serial numbers removed and were not registered to him, a .22 caliber rifle with a barrel less than 16 inches long and another improvised grenade he had not distributed.

He was also in possession of two firearms that had the serial numbers removed, including a Ruger MKII .22-caliber pistol and a Argentine Mauser, Model 1909 .308-caliber rifle.

Wann also was accused of possessing three stolen guns, including an American Tactical .45 caliber pistol, a Spikes Tactical AR-15 rifle, and a Smith and Wesson Model 1000 12-gauge shotgun. He faces a total of 85 years in federal prison if convicted of all nine charges.

Wann pleaded not guilty to all charges Oct. 5 and his next hearing is Oct. 17. He is being represented by a federal public defender. He is currently lodged in the Missoula County Detention Center.
