Three little bears up to no good
A man told authorities he moved three bears toward Depot Park. When he spoke to a Fish, Wildlife and Parks employee, the worker said he may bring a family trap out if it was needed.
Another caller said a bear on O’Brien Avenue was getting into garbage cans and eating trash.
A woman called the Whitefish Police Department to report that someone was using her daughter’s debit card without their approval. She asked that an officer checked to see if there was any video footage available.
A man called about a woman who yelled at him and his wife in the parking lot of an area store. The woman also approached the couple and was confrontational, but did nothing else.
An officer responded to a Third Street residence after a woman called about a deer with its leg stuck in a fence. She tried to get it out with no luck, but an officer was able to fre the deer.
A store employee called to report a woman with two young children in a silver Lexus had pulled over and was sleeping. When an officer investigated, he learned the woman was a grandma who was driving to the Koocanusa area. She became tired and pulled over the catch a few Zs and everyone was fine.
Someone reported a possible fire on top of Teakettle Mountain. It later turned out that it was a bright house light.
A caller reported to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office that a neighbor’s hound dog had repeatedly broke into her garage, flipped the gate open and allowed her dogs to run out.
A pit bull residing at a bar repeatedly got loose and attacked a neighbor’s cattle. An officer explained the laws to the dog owner and warned that the dog could be shot if it continued to act in such a manner.
A man said someone entered his unlocked cabin and stole a computer. He said they tried to take the TVs, but the thieves couldn’t get them off the wall.
A woman paid $100 for a bicycle for her son. When it stopped working and the seller wouldn’t answer the woman’s calls.
A person who had a bear encounter a few weeks ago reported hearing noises on the back porch. It appeared the garbage can had been knocked over. When the person checked, the bear was on the front porch and he ran it off.
An unlocked door resulted in two rifles and a handgun being taken from a house.
A person called the Columbia Falls Police Department to report someone’s hound dogs that are used to hunt mountain lions were not being fed. When an officer checked, the dogs appeared to be lean and healthy.
