Barbara J. Golie, 76

| October 19, 2018 2:00 AM

Barbara J. Golie, 76, passed away peacefully on Oct. 14, 2018, surrounded by her children and grandchildren in Spokane.

She was born to Elva (Patton) and John F, Johnson in Wichita, Kansas. She spent her younger years growing up traveling around making feather mattresses with her parents and only brother J.P. as a way to survive the tough economic times; they even sold them to the hotels in Glacier Park. She spent the majority of her life in Whitefish working various jobs and helping out her family. She was married to Sidney W. Golie for 58 years until he passed in 2016. She raised five children and enjoyed helping with numerous grandkids and great grandkids.

Barb enjoyed spending time with Sidney, going for drives and stopping at the Eagles where she enjoyed visiting with friends. Her favorite thing was spending time with the kids, but especially liked her visits with the grandkids and great-grandkids. Her smile would light up the room anytime someone showed up and she would chat up a storm. She will be missed by us all, but welcomed home by those who have gone before her.

She is survived by her five children, Randy, Sherrie, Kim, Marcie and Candi; her grandchildren, Cody, Justin, Barbi, Jason, Jenny, Ben, Sid, Renee, Rebecca, Jessica, Noah, Kyle, Zach and Ashley; and a brother, JP. We would love to list all the grandkids, great-grandkids and friends, but there are just too many to list as she was loved by everyone.

She was preceded in death by her parents (John and Elva Johnson), her husband (Sidney W. Golie), and their youngest daughter Cindy Sue.

Per Barb’s request, she wouldn’t want tears shed for her, but would like for you to give an extra big hug to your loved ones and enjoy being with them each moment as we never know when God will call us home.

We are holding a celebration of life for Mom at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Eagles in Columbia Falls. Please join us in saying good-bye to a wonderful woman.
