FHS presents 10 Minute Play Festival Sept. 13

| September 6, 2018 2:00 AM

The Flathead High School Theatre Department will kick off the 2018-2019 season with Flathead’s 10 Minute Play Festival at 6:27 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13 in the David M. Hashley Theatre at FHS. Tickets are $5 at the door.

The festival features original, 10-minute plays produced by the students of Flathead High School. The festival is a week-long event that begins on Thursday, Sept. 6, with auditions at FHS. Rehearsals continue through the week culminating in the festival performance on Sept. 13.

The plays will be directed by Kacie Bray, Patty Hodges, Aly Nordwall, Kyla Niva, and Bethany Shehan. Technical directors for the festival are Micah Horneman and Jen Stebbins-Han.

“The energy for this project is contagious. This process gives kids the opportunity to take a risk and to try something they might not have tried before,” said Wendy Putzler, director of FHS Theatre. “Last year 55 students were involved in our fall festival, producing five student-written productions. Our writers were able to see their words come to life and see their stories play out on stage in a process that was both fun and creative. I am proud of our students and directors.”

Liz Sykora, a member of the FHS Theatre staff, said “there is a camaraderie built by going through such an intense and short process.”

Added Putzler: “It is also an amazing opportunity for students to join an activity at the beginning of the school year. Many seniors share with me that they regret not auditioning for a play. This is an opportunity for everyone to experience the amazing process of theater.”
