Whitefish Gallery Nights monthly walk-about

Whitefish Gallery Nights continues in the heart of Whitefish tonight, Thursday, Sept. 6. Hours are 6 to 9 p.m.

These special evenings, held the first Thursday from May through October, showcase the art community of Whitefish with featured artist exhibitions, entertainment and light refreshments at Whitefish’s many galleries.

Whitefish Gallery Nights includes 13 participating art specialty shops and galleries. They include:

Dick Idol Signature Gallery, 238 Central Ave. — One of Montana’s most unique fine art gallery, featuring oil paintings, bronze sculptures and more from some of the western art world’s finest artists, including Whitefish native Colt Idol, one of the fastest rising stars in the Western art world today. The gallery also features one-of-a-kind antler furniture and fine-art animal mounts for the home, a Dick Idol exclusive.

Frame of Reference Fine Art, 235 Central Ave. — Celebrating 20 years in the Flathead Valley, Frame of Reference Fine Art skillfully blends the best of the New and the Old West in its gallery. The studio features a broad range of original artwork by regional artists with both contemporary and traditional themes, complimented by a carefully curated selection of rare and collectible treasures which celebrate the romance and history of the West at its finest.

Going To The Sun Gallery, 137 Central Ave. — This gallery represents 36 Montana and regional artists, featuring only original works and custom-made jewelry.

Group B Galleries, 220 E Second St. —This is a cooperative of 26 photographers and artists who collectively met and photographed together in “Group B” during the 2017 Summer Intensive study program at Missoula’s Rocky Mountain School of Photography. Group B promotes the work of local photographers and artists and specializes in framed and unframed photos.

McGough & Company, 131 Central Ave. —For the past 28 years, McGough & Company has been offering unique jewelry and gifts. The store offers some of the most sought-after brands including Tacori, Gabriele & Co, Citizen & Bulova watches and Chamilia beads. Of special note are the store’s large selection of loose diamonds, Montana Sapphires, Montana Yogo Sapphires, precious semi-precious stones.

Nancy Cawdrey Studios & Gallery, 204 Wisconsin Ave. — 204 Wisconsin Ave. The Cawdrey family presents a fine-art gallery featuring premier contemporary artists of the American West, focusing on the wildlife, figures and landscapes which define our region. Nancy Cawdrey is known for her boldly colored animals and luminous skies.

- Stephen Isley Jewelry, 241 Central Ave. — Stephen Isley Jewelry specializes in custom designed fine jewelry and original art by local and regional artists. Stephen Isley Jewelry is proud to create an inviting and eclectic gallery of distinction where contemporary paintings, glass, and wood sculptures blend with iconic Native American works. The gallery presents the perfect balance of Montana sophistication and rugged allure. Come in to see the latest works by our featured artists!

Stumptown Art Studio, 145 Central Ave. — As Whitefish Montana’s community art center since 1995, Stumptown Art Studio offers programs for art lovers of all ages and interests. The gallery area hosts monthly exhibits and sales by local artists. Ongoing classes, workshops, a clay co-operative, field trips, outreach with the Van Gogh (art mobile) and walk-in pottery painting, glass-fusing and mosaic-making are all available.

Sunti World Art Gallery, 345 Spokane Ave. — Internationally acclaimed sculptor Sunti Pichetchaiyakul is one of the world’s leading artists of portraiture and of hyper-realism. An award winning member of the Portrait Society of America, Sunti’s “Legends” collections are regarded for their spiritual essence and lifelike qualities, featuring detail never before seen in bronze.

The Purple Pomegranate, 222 Central Ave. — Come browse through the eclectic selection of handcrafted artware from more than 150 American artists at The Purple Pomegranate; it’s a unique selection of jewelry, metal work, ceramics, glass, wood work, mixed media, fiber art and prints.

The Walking Man Frame Shop & Gallery, 305 Baker Ave. — The Walking Man Frame Shop & Gallery offers full-service custom framing and exhibits contemporary local and regional artwork. The gallery features a wide variety of mediums, including oil, acrylic, ceramics, photography and indoor/outdoor sculpture.

Underscore Art, 100 Central Ave. — This gallery features contemporary regional art and distinctive fine jewelry. The gallery showcases the work of emerging to established regional artists working in a range of media. It also offers a curated collection of designer fine jewelry from around the world.

Whitefish Pottery & Stillwater Gallery, 240-242 Central Ave. — Whitefish Pottery produces a full line of functional stoneware pottery as well as representing potters from the Flathead Valley and across Montana. Stillwater Gallery is attached to Whitefish Pottery and hosts local, national, and international ceramic artists in monthly shows.
