Edwin H. Sanders, 85
Edwin H. Sanders of Creston passed away peacefully at Immanuel Lutheran Retreat with family on Aug. 31, 2018.
He was born Jan. 25, 1933, to Ralph and Adda Sparks-Sanders in Fort Collins, Colorado. He graduated from high school in 1951 and married his true love, Edith M. Sanders, on Jan.18, 1953, completing almost 63 years of marriage.
Ed spent his life in Colorado as a hardworking dairy farmer and raised corn and hay crops there as well. He then moved his family to Creston where he farmed various crops, raised cattle, drove a long-haul semi-truck traveling to almost every state in the nation, then became a school bus contractor driving for Flathead High School district for many years.
Ed was an on-the-go adventurer. He enjoyed many camping and wood-cutting outings, riding four-wheelers, but most of all, he loved to snowmobile. He spent his retirement tinkering on a vintage tractor restoration project and shared his passion/love of steam engine locomotives, and his model train hobby and toy tractor collection with all his grandchildren. His other passion was sharing his strong faith in Jesus and praying fervently for his family daily.
Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles; his wife, Edith; his sons-in-law, Ron Doll and Richard Baars; his grand-daughter, Madison Murer; and two cherub Doll babies.
He is survived by his sister, Ruth Pratt; three daughters, Debra Doll, Coleen Baars, and Connie (Keith) Murer. Grandchildren include James and Andrew (Katie) Doll, Richard M. Baars, Robert Baars, and Michaela (Austin) Goodson, Mackenna, McKinlie, and McCall Murer. Great-grandchildren are Riley, Dru, and Gideon Doll, Jordan, Kyan, and Scarlett Baars, Baby Goodson, as well as loved nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service for Edwin will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, at Canvas Church, Main Chapel, Kalispell, with graveside service at the Lone Pine Cemetery, Bigfork.
