No more summer, no more hanging around

Someone from the landfill called to report trapping a domestic goose. The goose had been hanging out there during the summer, but it had transitioned to the parking lot. Staff members caught it and asked an animal control office with the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to bring a dog crate to move the bird.

A person called to report that someone had stolen the spare keys for three work trucks. The caller wanted extra patrols for the area.

Someone reported a dog had killed their chickens. The dog belonged to the neighbor. An officer posted a door notice for the dog owner.

A worker reported a woman driving a silver, four-door Lincoln erratically and passing other vehicles in a school zone.

A man said he wanted to place spike strips in his horseshoe driveway to keep people from driving through it. An officer told him that if the strips were very visible and signs were placed, as well as no trespassing signs, then he could do what he wanted. The man said he spoke with his landlord who said it was OK, but the officer said he should talk to an attorney about possible liability issues.

A man reported someone had tried to get into his vacation rental house in Hungry Horse.

A mistaken 911 call was the result of a man leaning up against a wall and activating the phone. Someone reported a package was stolen from her customer box for her address.

A woman riding a bike flagged down a Kalispell police officer to ask if he could give her daughters a ride to school because she said she was going to be late getting to work. She said she lived in a shelter and was late getting her kids to school. She said she needs to be at work by 10:30. The officer advised the woman to leave earlier. She said she was waiting for her car to be fixed.

A man called the Columbia Falls Police Department to report his “uncle-in-law” had stolen several items while staying at his home and took them to a pawn shop.

A woman reported her purse and a backpack were stolen from her vehicle while it was parked on 4th Avenue. She said the vehicle was locked, but the windows were rolled down.

Someone called the Whitefish Police Department to report a black bear and two cubs were in the vicinity of 9th Street.

A woman called to report someone had taken a bag out of her car and that held her credit card. When an officer spoke with her she said she found the bag and the card.
