Whitefish trips Corvallis

CORVALLIS — Jack Isenbarth scored on a 13-yard run with 1:31 to play and Carver Gilman added the PAT kick in Whitefish’s 27-20 Class A nonconference football victory Friday night over Corvallis.

Whitefish (2-2 overall) also scored in the fourth quarter on a 59-yard run by Devin Beale.

“The guys answered well,” Whitefish coach Chad Ross said.

“I’m proud of them.”

Whitefish led Corvallis (3-1) 14-12 at the half and neither team scored in the third quarter.

Mark Anderson was 7 of 17 passing for 124 yards and one touchdown — a 19-yard strike to Gilman.

Anderson also ran for a 1-yard touchdown.

Beale had nine carries for 82 yards. Isenbarth had 54 yards rushing on six attempts.

Isenbarth, a defensive end, had four sacks, forced two fumbles and recovered both.

“He played lights out,” Ross said of Isenbarth.

Whitefish hosts Browning on Friday for homecoming. It’s also the Northwest Conference opener for both teams.

HAMILTON — Top-ranked Hamilton (4-0)jumped out to a 28-6 first-quarter lead and never looked back in pounding Polson (0-4) in Class A nonconference play.

Carson Rostad passed for four touchdown passes.

Polson scored on a 65-yard pass from Parker Toth to Boston Goode in the first quarter. Goode hauled in a 17-yard pass in the fourth quarter from Ryker Wenderoth.

Polson starts Northwest Conference play on Friday hosting Ronan.

STEVENSVILLE — Fourth-ranked Columbia Falls improved to 2-1 in Class A nonconference play by slamming Stevensville (2-2).

Columbia Falls (2-1).

Columbia Falls held a commanding 48-0 lead at the half.

Colten McPhee ran for two touchdowns and quarterback Drew Morgan passed for three and ran for another.

Logan Bechtel returned in interception 100 yards for a touchdown for the Wildcats.

Columbia Falls had 400 yards of total offense.

McPhee had 10 carries for 112 yards, Morgan was 12 of 19 passing for 190 yards and Parker Greene had four receptions for 47 yards and a touchdown.

Columbia Falls starts Northwest Conference play on Friday with a homecoming contest versus Libby.
