Gerald “Jerry” Scheetz, 66

Gerald “Jerry” Scheetz, 66, passed away Sept.13, 2018, peacefully at his home.

He was born in Youngstown, Ohio, Dec. 23, 1951, a son of William “Bill” and M. Irene Scheetz.

Jerry was a graduate of Boardman High School, moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico, in 1977 then on to Whitefish in 1978 where he fell in love with the area and decided to make Whitefish his home. Jerry retired from Burlington Northern Railroad after working there for over 15 years.

Jerry’s love for Montana’s beauty and culture ran deep. He loved the outdoors, was an avid telemark skier and developed his own unique technique. He enjoyed boating and golfing with his father, brothers and friends. Jerry was known to make friends wherever he went and he loved sharing his love of the area and the great outdoors with any one who visited Whitefish. A recipient of Meals on Wheels, Jerry appreciated all that they did for him and developed a fond friendship with the Meals on Wheels team.

Besides his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers, Ed, Michael and Bill, all formerly of Youngstown.

Jerry will be sadly missed by his sisters, Patty (Don) DiVito, Peggy (Rusty) Hutch, and Monica McKee of Youngstown, Joni (Scott) Johnson of Bend, Oregon, and Maureen Scheetz of Anacortes, Washington; 14 nieces, nephews and his many friends.

No services or calling hours are scheduled at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
