Bigfork kicks off statewide Cider Week

| September 20, 2018 2:00 AM

The inaugural Bigfork CiderFest will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, on Electric Avenue in downtown Bigfork.

The event, sponsored by the Bigfork Innovations Group (B.I.G.), will feature local Montana cider makers, brewers, food and fun. It’s a fundraiser for the B.I.G. group.

Participating cider makers include Montana Ciderworks, Western Cider of Missoula, Better Root Ciders and others.

The Bigfork event is the kickoff of Montana Cider Week, which will celebrate the craft of hard cider with events across Montana from Sept. 29 through Oct. 7. More than 30 events across Montana are planned, including cider tastings, parties, cider dinners, orchard tours, tap takeovers, a cider professional certification class at Western Cider, and more. This follows last year’s Montana Cider Week where over 4,000 Montanans participated in celebrating the state’s growing craft cider industry.

Money raised from this year’s Bigfork CiderFest will go toward the Village Market, Bigfork Brewfest and other community projects and events.

Tickets are available online at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/bigfork-ciderfest-tickets-50290394925. Tickets are $30 and include a 2018 CiderFest collector’s mug.
