Noland-Gillespie, Perrin post personal best times for Flathead at invitational
BUTTE — Flathead runners Tori Noland-Gillespie and Ben Perrin both set personal best times at the Butte Invitational on Thursday.
In addition to his PR time of 15 minutes, 25 seconds, Perrin placed first individually.
“It’s the best he’s ever run,” Flathead coach Jesse Rumsey said. “He led the race from the beginning and competed really strong all the way through.”
Noland-Gillespie finished fourth individually, clocking in at 19:23.
“Impressive,” Rumsey said. “She’s running against some of the fastest girls in the state.”
Flathead girls Sadie Wilson, Meaghan Fisher, Hailey Allen and Hannah Perrin placed in the top 25, all within 22 seconds of each other.
Kyle Calles placed 24th in the boys race and Keaton Fischer was 70th.
“Our kids raced really well,” Rumsey said. “We’re seeing improvement every week. It was really nice to see the east side teams this week.”
Billings Senior took top honors in girls team competition and Flathead was second. The Glacier girls placed sixth, with runners Kinzie Peterson finishing 12th and Holly Skelton 36th.
Tiahna Vladic of Billings Senior had a sensational winning time of 18:05.
In the boys team competition, Missoula Sentinel claimed first, Glacier fourth, and Flathead 11th.
Glacier runner Simon Hill ran 16:22, enough for third overall, and Aren Alexander-Battee was close behind in fourth with a time of 16:26.
Max DeVries finished 18th in 16:57.
Up next for most of the schools is the Mountain West Classic in Missoula on Sept. 29th.
