Robert W. 'Bobby' Kienas, 59

| September 21, 2018 2:00 AM

Robert W. “ Bobby” Kienas passed away Sept. 18, 2018, at his home with his loving wife, mother and children by his side after a long battle with COPD and cancer.

Bobby was born July 4, 1959, to Robert “Bob” and Joanne Kienas in Kalispell. He was raised with his brother and sister in Somers where he met his childhood sweetheart Wendy Hayek. Soon after graduation from Flathead High School, Bobby and Wendy were married on Oct. 3, 1977, and they had two boys Robert “RT” Kienas and Mitch Kienas. Bobby was an amazing electrician, but he was a jack-of-all-trades. He had a passion for woodworking and was very well known for some of his work.

Bobby never met a stranger. He was happy to help everyone he met. He treated you like an old friend, no matter how long he knew you. He would gladly give you the shirt off his back. Bobby was a very devoted fireman. In his 30s he was involved in a structure fire causing smoke inhalation in his lungs. That’s when his fight began and he was put on oxygen. He then spent many years training new recruits for various fire departments. He never let oxygen slow him down. He was a fighter.

Bobby had such a love for woodworking and being outdoors with his family. He looked forward to hunting camp with his boys every year and loved being on his motorcycle. He was very involved with his family, attending games and activities and always had time for his friends.

Bobby is survived by his mom, Joanne Kienas; wife, Wendy Kienas; sons, Robert “RT” (Amber), and Mitch (Kathy); grandkids, Katelyn, Breanna, Chloe, Tanner, Trevor and Kooper; relative Shawna, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Robert “Bob” Kienas, father-in-law Tom Hayek, infant sister Brenda Kienas, brother Edward “Bud” Kienas, and sister Karla Fischer.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22, at Stillwater Christian School gym, located at 255 FFA Drive, Kalispell, with burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery and reception to follow the burial at Somers Fire Hall in Somers.
