Hockaday's 'A Timeless Legacy' award winners

The Hockaday Museum of Art in Kalispell has announced the award winners from its “A Timeless Legacy” exhibition.

Best in Show Award — Linda Wilder

The Lucile Van Slyck Best in Show Award is given in recognition of the most outstanding presentation of three works of art.

For her outstanding body of work for the 2018 “A Timeless Legacy” event, the Best in Show Award was presented to Linda Wilder. Her creative ability was readily evident as a child, and eventually she could follow her destiny. Her education consists of formal art training in Red Deer College (Art & Design), followed by the University of Calgary BFA program, majoring in drawing and ceramics.

Painting full time since 2005, she has developed a very successful career. She has been juried into many local, national and international shows and competitions, acquiring many accolades along the way. Linda’s paintings are enjoyed in both corporate and private collections worldwide. She is represented in Canada by Mountain Galleries in Banff, Jasper and Whistler and The Bronze Coast Gallery in Oregon, USA.

Artists’ Choice Award — Brent Cotton

The Kathryn Woodman Leighton Artists’ Choice Award is given in recognition of the work most popular with fellow artists participating in exhibition. The 2018 “A Timeless Legacy” Artists’ Choice Award was presented to Brent Cotton for Emerald Waters, GNP, McDonald Creek, oil, 32” X 32”.

Patron’s Choice Award — Sally Vannoy

The Nellie Augusta Knopf Patron’s Choice Award is given in recognition of the work most popular with patrons of the exhibition. The award was presented to Sally Vannoy for We Three Kings, oil, 30” x 32”.

Best Miniature Award — Brent Cotton

The Elizabeth Davey Lochrie Miniature Award, given in recognition of the most outstanding work of art in the miniature category, was presented to Brent Cotton for Night Fall - Crypt Lake, oil, 9” X 12”.

Bailey Family Purchase Award — Linda Wilder

The Bailey Family Purchase Award, in memory of one of the Hockaday Museum of Art’s founders, Ed Bailey, was presented to Linda Wilder for McDonald Creek, acrylic, 24” X 36.” The work was donated to the Hockaday Museum of Art Collection.

Sliter Family Purchase Award — Laurie Kersey

The Sliter Family Purchase Award, in memory of one of the Hockaday Museum of Art’s founders, Greta Sliter, was presented to Laurie Kersey, for Majestic Peak, Glacier, oil, 12” X 9.” The work was donated to the Hockaday Museum of Art collection.

Hockaday Purchase Award

Through Hockaday Museum of Art’s Van Kirke Nelson Fund, in honor of Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park and for which it stands for, the award was presented to two artists, one Canadian and one American — Doug Swinton, for East Entrance to Waterton Park, oil, 8” x 14” and Charlie Fritz for An Old Timer on Vimy Ridge, oil, 12 “ X 16.” ?Both works are now a part of the Hockaday collection.
