NYC's 'King' Solomon Hicks returns to play four shows

| September 27, 2018 2:00 AM

New York City’s Cotton Club lead guitarist, “King” Solomon Hicks will perform at four venues around the Flathead Valley in October at the invitation of the Crown of the Continent Guitar Foundation. Three of the performances will be free of charge with donations encouraged to support the Guitar Foundation’s 10th workshop and festival scheduled Aug. 26 to Sept. 1, 2019. A fundraising party is also planned with Hicks at the Laughing Horse Lodge in Swan Lake.

Also known as “Lil’ B.B. King,” Hicks is a guitar prodigy from Harlem who began playing as lead guitarist with the Cotton Club 17-piece band at age 13. Now 23, he has evolved into a high energy, get-up-out-of-your-seat blues guitarist who, when not touring internationally, plays a regular gig at the Harlem club.

King Solomon Hicks starts his tour of the valley on Friday, Oct. 5 at Del’s Bar and Grill in Somers, where from 8 to 11 p.m. he will offer an open jam session with some musical friends.

On Saturday Oct. 6, the music moves to the new Gunsight Bar and Grill in Columbia Falls where local favorite Mike Murray will join Hicks on stage from 6 to 11 p.m. Then on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 7, from 3 to 8 p.m. Hicks will be joined by Tommy Edwards of Man in the Box at The Raven in Woods Bay with a special Cajun Day menu planned.

The tour finale will be a swinging party with the theme “New Year’s Eve in October” featuring hors d’ oeuvres, champagne, wine, beer and dancing at the Laughing Horse Lodge in Swan Lake on Monday, Oct. 8, starting at 5 p.m. Tickets are $100 and seating is limited to 40 guests. Call the Laughing Horse directly for reservations, 406-886-2080.
