Kalispell Police investigate hit-and-run

The Kalispell Police Department is asking for the public’s help in its investigation of a West Side hit-and-run crash that occurred Thursday evening.

According to information from the department, a pedestrian was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. The identity of the victim was not released. 911 dispatch logs indicate the victim was a man in his late 60s.

Both Kalispell police and fire departments responded to the intersection of 1st Avenue West and 1st Street East at 8:12 p.m.

A vehicle described as a burgundy colored minivan had reportedly left the scene after striking the victim. The driver of the van contacted Kalispell police shortly after the accident to report having been involved in an accident.

The driver was questioned and released. No charges were filed, but the investigation is ongoing.

The department would like to talk to anyone who witnessed the accident and anyone with information is asked to call Detective David Massie at 758-7795.
