Arliss (Hoyt) Anderson, 84
Arliss (Hoyt) Anderson, 84, lovely wife, grandmother and friend, passed gently into the arms of Jesus Sept. 18, 2018.
Born to Estelle and Ray Hoyt in Valentine, Nebraska, she was eldest to siblings Jack and Dennis. Through the Depression Era, Arliss moved frequently with her family as her father followed the construction work, eventually settling in Billings where she graduated early from high school. Secretarial work following high school enabled her to pursue nursing school.
After eventually relocating to Polson, she met the love of her life, Carl James. Together they raised four children, Allen (Denise Anderson), Anna (Eric Larson), John and Jean (Gary Soderberg).
Arliss was a dedicated homemaker and devoted her life to creating a welcoming home by growing bountiful flowers and vegetables, sewing for the family, and baking the world’s best cinnamon rolls. She was a voracious reader and instilled the importance of reading to her children at a very early age. Her ever-growing family of eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren brought great joy to her life and she never missed a birthday or anniversary. Arliss returned to work after her children were teenagers, and after working a variety of jobs she once again settled into office work. After 14 years at WIC, she retired at age 68.
Arliss was a dedicated sports fan of the Mariners, but especially of the Gonzaga basketball team. A Gonzaga game took precedence over everything else. (Go Zags!)
Her parents Ray Hoyt and Estelle Wilton, brother Dennis and twin brother preceded her in death.
She was greatly loved and will be missed by many.
In lieu of flowers, please make a book or monetary donation to North Lake County Library, in Polson, where Arliss was a patron for 40-plus years. Or you may call 406-883-8225 or visit their website for information on how to make a donation.
