Dawn Duane brings spring to Sassafras

Artist Dawn Duane will have her Seed Sensations Art Show on exhibit during the months of April, May and June at Sassafras Art Gallery on Main Street in downtown Kalispell.

The Sensational Seed Exhibit will be visible inside and out so whether you’re just walking by and stop to be enlightened or go on in, Duane hopes you feel the joy of spring.

Her colorful compilation is a collection of vintage seed packets displayed on barn wood in various structural designs. Accompanying the seed collection are petite watercolors, brightly painted spring brooms and fused-glass floral pieces created by Duane.

Some of the vintage seed packets in the 200-piece collection were priced at a mere 15 cents.

“The art of the packets capture a simpler time in life, Duane said. “Allow your senses to ride on the voyage of spring and growth by taking in the color and composition. While the overall theme of the show is growth, earth and time, it’s just refreshing to be among the flowers.”

A seed saver, Duane has saved enough of her own seeds to make 200 packets of her own wildflower mix. They are available at the show.

Sassafras is a 50-member art cooperative of local artists.
