Polson, Columbia Falls netters split with Dillon

POLSON — Polson and Columbia Falls split Class A dual tennis action with Dillon on Friday.

Polson is back in action today at 9 a.m. versus Dillon and 3 p.m. versus Whitefish. Whitefish squares off with Dillon at noon.

Columbia Falls 3, Dillon 0

POLSON — Columbia Falls won some close battles at Nos. 1-2 singles with Hannah Schweikert and Katy Garate going the distance and Cassidy Norick was an easy winner at No. 3 before the Class A dual with Dillon was washed out.

Grace Gedlaman won the first set at No. 4 singles for Columbia Falls 6-0 when rain cut the outing short.

“I thought today their games (Schweikert and Garate) were starting to come back to them,” Columbia Falls coach Gene Marcille said.

“It was really fun to see them step up to that.”

Columbia Falls is back in action Thursday at noon at FVCC versus Polson.

SINGLES — Hannah Schweikert, CF, def. Ashlyn Sandall, 7-6 (7-5), 6-7 (5-7), 10-8; Katy Garate, CF, def. Nicole Fluckiger, 4-6, 6-3, 10-6; Cassidy Norick, CF, def. Bella Glossa, 6-0, 6-3; Grace Gedlaman, CF, def. Alana Rose, 6-0, (rained out).

Boys

Dillon 3, Columbia Falls 2

POLSON — Camryn Lingle, at No. 3 singles, is off to a 2-0 start for Columbia Falls.

Lingle defeated Dillon’s Turner Sawyer 6-1, 6-2 to follow a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 Thursday win at FVCC against Whitefish.

“I was impressed with Camryn Lingle’s performance today and yesterday,” Columbia Falls coach Michelle Colliander said.

“He has been playing very well, especially his overall game. He is moving his opponent around, coming to the net when he needs to. It’s kind of clicking for him this year.”

Colliander said John Gilk and Niels Getts, at Nos. 1-2 singles, “played well today despite the scores. They had a lot of long rallies, close games.”

Rained washed out doubles play at No. 1 and No. 3.

Columbia Falls is back in action Thursday at noon at FVCC versus Polson.
