Two in custody following vehicle chase
A man and woman are in custody following a Tuesday morning pursuit of a reckless driver that ended at the intersection of U.S. 93 and Wyoming Street.
James McAlpine, the driver of the vehicle, was arrested for felony criminal endangerment and is being held at the Flathead County jail. His passenger, Julia Stinson, was taken into custody and is being held at the county jail for an outstanding felony warrant for bail-jumping, according to a press release issued Wednesday by the Kalispell Police Department.
At about 10 a.m. Tuesday Kalispell Police officers responded to the area of the U.S. 93 bypass and Foy’s Lake Road after a reckless vehicle was reported. An officer located the vehicle and attempted to stop it. The driver failed to yield to the officer, and Kalispell Police and Flathead County Sheriff’s Office deputies then pursued the suspect vehicle, the press release said.
A Kalispell officer was able to successfully deploy stop sticks on the vehicle, however, the driver continued his attempt to elude officers. Officers then used a P.I.T. (pursuit intervention technique) maneuver in an attempt to end the pursuit, and were able to stop the vehicle.
No one was injured, but several vehicles were damaged during the incident, the press release said.
The Montana Highway Patrol investigated the incident, and Kalispell Police are continuing their investigation.
