Vera M. (Sullivan) Good, 100

Vera M. (Sullivan) Good passed away Monday, Aug. 26, 2019, at Wel-LIfe Center in Kalispell.

Vera was born Dec. 12, 1918, on the home ranch in Deer Park (off of what is now Columbia Stage Road) to parents Michael “Henry” Sullivan and Mary C. (Nutter) Sullivan. They moved to the ranch near Deer Park School when Vera was 5 years old to be close to the school, where she was educated and then graduated from Flathead County High School with the Class of 1936.

On Oct. 1, 1941, Vera married Charles C. Myers in Whitefish; three children were born, Larry C. Myers, Michael I. Myers and Lee Myers.

Mr. Myers ranched, worked for Stolze Lumber, Eureka Mill and Flathead County Park and Recreation. Vera was a full-time mother and ranch wife on the property they bought adjoining Deer Park School. Charles C. Myers died Sept. 3, 1966. Vera went to work as a nurse aide at Flathead County Nursing Home in Kalispell in 1966 and worked there until January of 1970.

Vera married William Good on Jan. 26, 1970, in the Columbia Falls Christian Church. She moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where Bill was employed with the Anchorage Police Department. Vera was employed with Anchorage School District as a school bus attendant from September 1974 to June 1980. Mr. Good died May 9, 1979. Vera sold the home in Anchorage and moved back to Columbia Falls where she had a home built. Many memories were made in Columbia Falls with lots of family gatherings and church gatherings. She stayed in her home until 2005 after her son Larry passed away, at which time she sold the home and moved back to the homestead by Deer Park School, She then moved to Wel-Life Assisted Living where she made many new friends, enjoyed daily activities, and lived out her remaining years. Vera touched many lives and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Vera was baptized and joined First Christian Church of Columbia Falls March 25, 1956. She served as the first elder, served as church secretary, active in Christian Women’s Fellowship and many other church functions as well as being active in Church Women United. She also tied quilts at the Klothes Kloset. Vera transferred her membership to Central Christian Church in Kalispell August 2001. She has been a member of Lady of Moose in Anchorage since 1977. Important to her was her faith, family, friends and gardening. She had a beautiful iris garden, and raised many colors of African violets and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels, with her loyal companion Kipper at her side. She enjoyed traveling when possible to new places in Alaska, the Philippines and Mexico.

Vera was also preceded in death by her parents, son Lee A. Myers in 1983, son Larry C. Myers in 2005, and nephew John “Jack” Garlitz in 2019.

Survivors include son Michael I. Myers of Sidney, 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren, one special niece, four nephews, and several cousins and friends. They were all loved dearly by Vera.

A visitation for Vera will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29, at Columbia Mortuary. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, at Central Christian Church of Kalispell, 248 2nd Ave. East. Lunch will be served at the church following services, and burial will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Glacier Memorial Gardens.
