C-Falls spikers win Tip-Off event, Flathead splits in Great Falls
BUTTE — Columbia Falls captured the title at the Northwest A/Southwest A Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday at the Butte Civic Center with a dramatic 25-23, 24-26, 15-14 volleyball victory over Corvallis.
Columbia Falls was the winner of pool play in Northwest A. Corvallis was the Southwest A winner.
Libby finished third by downing Butte Central 25-17, 22-25, 15-9.

GREAT FALLS — The Flathead Bravettes kicked off their season with a 25-20, 25-23, 25-17 win over Great Falls High School.
“We had a good first match,” Flathead coach Nicole Fairclough said. “We served really tough and pressured Great Falls, which allowed us to run our offense well. Our defense also did a fantastic job of keeping the ball in play.”

GREAT FALLS — Flathead (1-1) lost its second match of the day to C.M. Russell, 25-17, 25-22, 25-21, 25-17.
“We had good moments throughout the match, but got down too often,” Fairclough said.
“We played great defense but struggled a bit blocking at the net. By the end of the match our block was better but we definitely have some things to continue to work on. Overall it was a good day for the Bravettes.”
