Shoplifter narrowly escapes police dragnet

| February 3, 2019 2:00 AM

A store manager said a female shoplifter had escaped with a coat in a black pickup with a topper. A check of the license plate indicated it was inactive and belonged on a gray Subaru. Despite a quick response by Kalispell Police Department officers, the driver slipped away.

A person working at a hotel said when she went to check on a person in a room, she was struck in the face. She said both people were on meth. She said she didn’t need any medical attention, but the other woman did need medical attention due to a cut on the head and a punch in the mouth.

Someone, who sounded “all over the place,” said she had received threatening phone calls for the last two years. The man making the alleged calls threatened to kill the person and her family. When an officer called the woman, he had to leave a message.
