Bigfork Children's Theatre sets auditions for 'The Addams Family'
Auditions for “The Addams Family” will be held Monday, Feb. 18, (Presidents Day) at the Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theatre Afterschool Center, 833 Grand Drive. Auditions will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. for fifth- and sixth-graders and from 6 to 8 p.m. for seventh- and 12th-graders.
In the kooky, upside-down world of the Addams Family, to be sad is to be happy, to feel pain is to feel joy, and death and suffering are the stuff of their dreams. Nonetheless, this quirky family still has to deal with many of the same challenges faced by any other family, and the spookiest nightmare faced by every family — the kids are growing up. The Addamses have lived by their unique values for hundreds of years and Gomez and Morticia’s daughter, Wednesday, has fallen in love with a normal, respectable Ohio boy. In one fateful, hilarious night, secrets are disclosed, relationships are tested, and the Addams family must face up to the one horrible thing they’ve managed to avoid for generations — change.
This production calls for a medium-sized cast; over 15 feature roles with a medium-sized chorus. It costs nothing to audition; there is a $50 participation fee to be a part of the show if cast.
Prepare a 30-second monologue or short selection from another play or book, (Several will be available at the audition if you can’t find one) and plan to learn and sing something at the audition — no experience is necessary and all materials will be at the theater for you. Wear comfortable shoes that you can move around on stage in.
Help is also needed with building sets, props, costumes, lights and sound. Parental and student assistance is welcome. To sign-up and for more information, call 837-4886 or email bpct@bigforksummerplayhouse.com or visit the website, www.bigforksummerplayhouse.com
