Polson boys top C-Falls in opener

WHITEFISH — A quick start helped Polson beat Columbia Falls 58-49 in first-round action Thursday evening at the Northwest A District boys basketball tournament at Whitefish High School.

Polson jumped out to an 11-4 advantage after the first quarter and led 26-20 at the half. The second half was played on nearly even terms.

Colton Graham and Robin Erickson paced Polson offensively with 18 and 15 points, respectively.

Drew Morgan and Dillon Shipp both had 11 to lead Columbia Falls.

Polson (8-11) advances to play second-seed Whitefish (13-5) tonight in semifinal action at 6:30. Whitefish had an opening-round bye.

Columbia Falls (3-16) drops into loser-out play on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

The top four teams advance to the Western A Divisional next week in Hamilton.

WHITEFISH — Ronan rolled to an easy Northwest A District first-round victory over Polson. No scoring details were available.

Ronan (9-10) advances to semifinal play against second seed Columbia Falls (17-1) tonight at 8.

Polson (0-17) has a loser-out game on Saturday at 2 p.m.
