Whitefish Arts Council screens new documentary series

The Whitefish Arts Council is bringing another broadcast series to the Whitefish Performing Arts Center. For the last five years, it has sponsored The Met: Live in HD opera broadcasts and is now branching out to bring a broadcast series that features great artists through history.

“Great Art on Screen” broadcasts will offer visually stunning documentaries featuring the most extraordinary and groundbreaking art masters of their time. Produced by BY Experience/HD, these entertaining documentaries run approximately 90 minutes each, making them an attractive tight-knit story geared to art lovers and history buffs. They are well-suited for adult lifelong learners, high school students, and college art and art history students.

Ticket prices are $15 adults/$5 students (K-12)/$10 college students, cash or check, and will be available at the door.

“Van Gogh: Of Wheat Fields and Clouded Skies” will be broadcast at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23. The basis of this documentary is a collection of 40 paintings and 80 drawings on loan from the Kroller-Muller Museum in Holland and currently displayed at the Basilica Palladina museum in Vicenza, Italy. These works reveal Van Gogh’s art and genius, allowing viewers to understand the importance of drawing as part of his craft.
