Flathead boys, girls fall to Hellgate in season finale
Flathead ended the regular season with a 69-33 loss to Missoula Hellgate in a Western AA boys basketball clash on Saturday at Flathead High School.
The Braves (5-13 overall, 2-10 Western AA) fell behind early to the No. 1 team in the division, and the Knights (17-1, 12-0) took a 19-9 lead into the second quarter.
Hellgate had a 35-19 lead at halftime, led by Abe Johnson, who scored 11 of his 15 total points in the first half.
Rollie Worster scored 11 of his 15 in the second half as Hellgate outscored the Braves 34-14.
Brett Thompson had eight points for Flathead and knocked down two triples. Tannen Beyl added seven and Andrew Siderius six.
Dylan Holst scored 11 for the Knights and Bridger Deden chipped in 10.
Flathead will be the No. 6 seed and play Helena Capital at this week’s Western AA Divisional tournament at Glacier High School.

MISSOULA — The Bravettes squandered a 10-point halftime lead and fell to Missoula Hellgate in Western AA girls basketball action at Hellgate High School.
Flathead (6-12, 2-10) outscored the Knights 16-5 in the second quarter to go into the break with a 28-18 advantage. But Hellgate (11-7, 7-5) turned it around in the second half, outscoring the Bravettes 28-14.
The Bravettes managed just five points in the fourth quarter.
Jenna Johnson paced Flathead with 16 points and Taylor Henley added 13. Emma Blakely of Hellgate led all scorers with 21.
The Bravettes will be the No. 6 seed and get a crosstown clash with No. 3 seed Glacier in this week’s Western AA Divisional tournament.
