Best of Mountainfilm On Tour comes to Whitefish

| February 28, 2019 2:00 AM

The Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation is hosting Mountainfilm on Tour, bringing a selection of culturally rich, adventure-packed and incredibly inspiring documentary films to three cities in Montana in March, including Whitefish.

The films show at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish on Wednesday and Thursday, March 13-14. Doors open at 6 p.m.; films start at 7 p.m.

Curated from the films shown at the Mountainfilm festival held every year in Telluride, Colorado, the diverse selection highlights adventure, an indomitable spirit, and a responsibility for our environment and wild places. Using the power of film, art and ideas, the tour hopes to inspire audiences to create a better world.

Proceeds will help bring over 350 volunteers into The Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex in 2019 as they work to keep trails open, manage invasive weeds, protect wildlife habitat, and offer wilderness experiences with the power to change lives and instill a land ethic.

Tickets are $15 and are available online at www.bmwf.org/events. One can also purchase tickets at Sportsman & Ski Haus in Whitefish.

In addition to the independent films, guests can enjoy beer from Jeremiah Johnson Brewing Co., snacks, and amazing raffle prizes including passes for the Red Ants Pants Music Festival, jewelry, outdoor gear, Bedrock Sandals, jewelry, and more. The grand prize for the film festival is a Kokopelli Nirvana Packraft with Spraydeck valued at $1,000. Guests are encouraged to bring cash to the events as some venues do not have ATMs.
