Keller Williams brings his talent to the Great Northern

Genre-hopping multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Keller Williams will bring his signature solo looping show to Great Northern Bar in Whitefish at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10.

Williams has built a reputation for his dynamic and unpredictable solo performances, in which he creates samples on the fly, using a special looping effect live on stage, playing both original songs and select covers. Nothing is pre-recorded and no two shows are alike, making for a completely unique experience of sonically infused alt-folk and groovy electronica.

With a prolific career spanning 23 studio albums, Keller Williams’ improvisational style is an artistic force. He has a penchant for collaboration and innovation. Williams recently released his first-ever entirely instrumental album, SANS, which Paste Magazine called “another satisfying addition to Williams’ remarkable repertoire.” The follow-up to his two simultaneous 2017 releases, SYNC and RAW, SANS features eight previously released acoustic tracks, now enhanced with more bold acoustic bass and drum samples, plus one brand new composition. The album’s opening track “Fat B” was originally recorded for 1998’s SPUN, and his song “M&Ms” was recently spotlighted by The Bluegrass Situation.

Williams’ unpredictable live shows and ability to seamlessly transition between genres has garnered a large and loyal cult following as well as praise from press including Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, Relix, Acoustic Guitar and more. He has toured with bands such as The String Cheese Incident, Infamous Stringdusters, Yonder Mountain String Band, The Rhythm Devils and Umphrey’s McGee, as well as his various and eclectic side projects. Williams’ latest Tom Petty-inspired project, PettyGrass, finds him performing select covers in a rollicking bluegrass style.
