Good luck, money go missing at casino

| January 4, 2019 2:00 AM

It wasn’t one man’s lucky day when money fell out of his coat pocket on the way to the bathroom at a casino. The man told Kalispell Police Department he withdrew five $20 bills from an ATM and put it in his pocket. He should probably consider it money flushed down the toilet when a casino employee reviewed surveillance footage and noted that 10 minutes after the cash hit the floor another man walked by and picked it up.

A woman couldn’t wait a minute more to report a barking dog issue and called 911 after she was put on hold when she called the non-emergency number. Despite how precious her time — and her hearing — may be, dispatchers gave her the non-emergency number again, advising her that someone would answer as soon as 911 emergencies — ones where there is an immediate need for police, fire or medical attention — were handled.

A store employee on Hutton Ranch Road reported a man and woman came into the store and the man, who smelled strongly of alcohol, reportedly apologized to the employee for fighting in the parking lot. The employee didn’t know if the woman had been drinking. The allegedly drove away, stranding the woman in a parking lot. The incident resulted in a vehicle being towed.

A woman’s boyfriend reportedly hit her, screamed at her and attempted to take her phone, leading her to lock herself in the bathroom. Police were advised the trashy man had a warrant out for littering on the highway.

A father and son shot a toy rocket that landed in a tree. The father wanted to let police know that he planned to get a ladder to remove it. Police advised him that it was OK if the mission to retrieve the rocket could be accomplished safely.

Someone reported possibly two transients had set up camp in the woods and were burning fires. The caller was concerned about the safety of children walking through the area to school. The camp in question was empty when police located it.

A tenant with a foot infection called 911 but didn’t need an ambulance, just help getting a cab. The man reportedly was out of minutes on his phone and could only call 911, nor could he walk to the front desk to assist him. Police eventually reached a front desk employee and passed on the request.

A woman in a long black jacket attempted to get into the building she had been evicted from, but allegedly hadn’t returned her keys. Police allowed the woman to collect the amount of belongings she could carry and advised her that she couldn’t return to the building and her remaining belongings placed in storage for a finite period.

A woman was seen standing in the middle of First Avenue West screaming at cars and possibly hitchhiking. Police counseled the woman on her behavior.

A man’s girlfriend got too close to the splash zone when he reportedly sprayed her with water, and himself, during an argument on Diane Road. The former lovebirds were in the process of breaking up and trying to decide “who stays in the house and who takes the child.” Columbia Falls Police Department advised the woman to go to the court to seek an order of protection and parenting plan if she wished.

A Third Avenue West resident was suspicious of a truck that pulled up in front of their house and allegedly took pictures of it.
