Basketball Roundup Polson nips C-Falls; Deer Lodge trips Bigfork
COLUMBIA FALLS — Columbia Falls rallied in the late going, but fell three points short as Polson held on for a 47-44 Class A boys basketball victory on Saturday.
Polson led 35-23 after three quarters.
“We couldn’t score, find the hoop,” Columbia Falls coach Chris Finberg said.
“We were able to score to get into full court pressure that led to a few easy buckets” in the fourth quarter.
Columbia Falls outscored Polson 21-12 in the final eight minutes.
The Wildcats got as close at two points and had a 3 at the buzzer hit the front of the rim.
Columbia Falls (1-6) continues with league play at Whitefish on Thursday.

DEER LODGE — Deer Lodge slipped by Bigfork in Class B play, dealing the Vikings their first loss of the season.
Bigfork is 7-1.
“Deer Lodge played great,” Bigfork coach Sam Tudor said. “We didn’t score when we needed to.”
Logan Gillard put up a team-high 16 points for the Vikings and Colton Reichenbach scored 11.

WHITEFISH — Tanner Goligoski knocked down 29 points and Trey Searle added 19 as Hamilton cruised to a Class A victory over Whitefish (5-3).
Hamilton jumped out to a 28-8 lead and took a 43-17 advantage into the locker room at the half.
Lee Walburn paced Whitefish in scoring with 13 points.
“They played an unbelievable game,” Whitefish coach Scott Smith said of Hamilton.
“They brought the intensity and flat out took it to us.”
Whitefish is back in action hosting Columbia Falls on Thursday.
