Citing the ongoing shutdown of portions of the federal government, Glacier National Park has cancelled the meeting originally set for tonight in Kalispell about the ongoing rebuilding of Sperry Chalet.

The Glacier National Park Conservancy had been scheduled to co-host.

In late August 2017, the Sprague Fire gutted the historic chalet’s two-story dormitory.

In October, crews working for Dick Anderson Construction completed Phase One of the work.

Tonight’s meeting was intended to provide an overview for construction contractors of the work proposed for Phase Two.

And the Glacier National Park Conservancy was planning to host a public open house celebration about the success of Phase One, with photos and videos and presentations by a chalet concessionaire and by the architectural firm involved in the reconstruction.

A news release from Glacier National Park said the Sperry Chalet meeting is “indefinitely postponed.”
