Betty Olson, 91

| January 18, 2019 2:00 AM

Betty Olson passed away Dec. 1, 2018.

Betty was born on Sept. 16, 1927, to Herman and Helen Redmer at Bowbelles, North Dakota, one of nine siblings raised on the farm.

She and Robert met at a skating rink in 1946. They were married in November of 1946.

They were blessed with two sons, James and Ronald. James and his wife, Terri, had four children, Jeff, Alan, Tracey and Brenda. Son Ronald and his wife Jeanette had one son, Brandon. Their family expanded with five dearly loved grandchildren.

Betty and Robert were active and busy throughout their married life, from square dancing, to owning various businesses, to finally purchasing the Polebridge Mercantile up the North Fork of the Flathead River.

They happily utilized the countless benefits of their incredible surroundings — fishing, hunting, rafting and running the Mercantile, making lifelong friends.

Betty was known for her gardening prowess, which provided the family and neighbors with delicious veggies.

Sadly, Betty was preceded in death by her sons, James in 1991, and Ronald in 2002.

Betty will be forever remembered for her sweetness and generosity and her incredibly beautiful needlepoint works of art, as well as the hard work she cheerfully shared with Robert over the 72 years of their marriage.
