Fair-Mont-Egan searching for new school logo
Fair-Mont-Egan School is in the midst of holding a contest to find the school’s next logo.
The Fair-Mont-Egan Bruins invite students, staff, alumni and residents living in the district to submit original designs that could become the new district logo.
The goal of selecting a new logo is to establish continuity among items where the logo is used. Currently, there is more than one logo in use or on display.
“Basically, over the years we’ve had a number of different logos,” District Clerk Shelley Struck said, noting that different logos are still in use or displayed. “We’re trying to unify those images and still reflect the history of the three schools that combined to become Fair-Mont-Egan.”
Logos should incorporate the bruin mascot; school colors, dark green and yellow/gold, and full school name or initials. The district is also looking for a logo that reflects its history, which encompasses the three schools that consolidated to become Fair-Mont-Egan — Fairview, Egan and Montford schools.
Submissions may be created using pencil, crayon, markers, paint, or drawing software. The district suggests participants think about creating a simple design that is readable whether scaled up or down in size; used in color, black and white or grayscale; or printed on different materials. The new logo may be used on printed materials/documents, athletic uniforms, apparel and the website, for example.
Participants may submit up to two entries to the front office by 3 p.m. Jan. 31. There will be two opportunities for entrants to win prizes.
Submissions will be displayed at the school’s annual spaghetti dinner, talent show and pie auction on Feb. 8. Attendees will vote on their favorite entries. The top three popular vote winners will be awarded prizes in each of the following age categories: kindergarten through second grade; third through fifth; sixth through eighth; and adult.
A committee tasked with selecting the school logo will also judge entries. If a winner is selected, the entrant will receive $200. If not, the committee may hold another contest at a later date.
The logo selection committee will judge entries on relevance (symbolizes the school mascot, theme, colors, history); originality/creativity; and aesthetics (visually balanced, eye-catching).
