Thousands without power after utility pole crash

A power outage left about 3,300 Flathead Electric Cooperative members without electricity late Friday afternoon in the Whitefish and Columbia Falls areas.

A driver collided with a power pole, causing the outage, according to information from Flathead Electric.

Crews were working to restore service at 5 p.m.

According to the Montana Department of Transportation, traffic signals at the intersection of Montana 40 and U.S. 2 are not working and drivers were advised to treat it as a four-way stop.
