Legion Baseball Sapa-Johnsrud, Harp tourneys on schedule this week

The final regular season tournament action for the Glacier Twins A and Kalispell Lakers AA and A American Legion baseball teams before district and state action later this month takes place this week with the 35th annual Sapa-Johnsrud Memorial Tournament in Whitefish and the 18th annual John R. Harp Tournament in Kalispell.

Both events have small fields with five teams entered in Whitefish and six in Kalispell.

Sapa-Johnsrud begins Thursday with three games and runs through Sunday at Memorial Field.

The Harp Tournament starts Friday and also ends Sunday at Archie Roe and Griffin fields.

Kalispell was the tournament champion at both events a year ago with Lakers AA winning the Sapa-Johnsrud and Lakers A taking its Harp title. The Lakers AA beat the Pullman, Washington, Patriots 10-2 while Lakers A topped Medicine Hat, Alberta, 7-6 in those championship games.

The Glacier Twins A enter their Sapa-Johnsrud Tournament with a 24-14 record overall. Coby Clark-Dickinson tops the Twins in hitting and pitching.

The standout is averaging .436 at the plate. He leads the team in doubles (17), home runs (3), RBIs (39) and runs scored (44).

Austyn Andrachick leads in singles (42) and is second in RBIs (32). He is hitting .403.

Jack Schwaiger, hitting .402, has the most at-bats (127) and hits (51) and is third in RBIs (30).

On the mound, Clark-Dickinson is 6-2 with a 2.41 ERA.

He has worked the most innings (55) on the staff and has the most starts (13) and strike outs (83). Forrest Kobelt and Stevyn Andrachick are both 3-0 while Schwaiger is 3-1.

Leading the Lakers AA (27-15 overall) in hitting is Connor Drish at .389.

Randy Stultz, .372, Jonathan Craver, .360 and Ryan Symmes, .346, are next.

Team leaders are Drish in singles (37), Stultz in runs scored (61), hits (48), triples (4) and home runs (4), and Symmes in at-bats (133).

Wes Palmers is 8-0. Jack Corriveau is 5-2 on the mound.

Palmer leads in innings pitched (59 2/3) and has a 2.96 ERA. He is second in strikeouts (43).

Logan Siblerud (4-4) is second in innings pitched (54 1/3) and has a 5.30 ERA.

Corriveau has worked the third most innings (48 1/3) but has the most strikeouts (68).

The Western A District Tournament for the Twins and Lakers is July 18-21 in Libby. The state tournament follows July 27-31 at Florence.

The Lakers AA have a doubleheader with Lethbridge on July 17 followed by a single game with Helena on July 20 and a doubleheader with Helena the next day. All five games are at Griffin Field to end the regular season.

The AA state tournament is July 27-30 in Billings.
