Donna Rollins, 91
Donna Fae Mefford Rollins was born Feb. 1, 1928, in Missoula, the daughter of Ted and Alberta Colvin Mefford. Her family lived in Ronan and Anaconda before moving to Flathead Lake in the late 1930s.
In 1942, they went to Hot Springs and Donna attended high school there.
In 1946 she married James Kirkpatrick Mason. Their daughter, Diane Louise, was born in Kansas City. After several years in Missoula, they moved to Hot Springs where Donna worked for the United States Postal Service.
Donna was divorced from Mason. She and Diane continued to live in Hot Springs. She married Theodore Rollins in March of 1964. They lived in Troy. Tragically, Donna’s daughter Diane died in 1984. When Ted and Donna decided to retire completely, Rollins on Flathead Lake became their home. While they lived in Rollins, they attended the Dayton Presbyterian Church in Dayton. Eventually, both Donna and Ted needed more care and moved to Kalispell, where Ted passed away.
Donna had lived in Polson in recent years. She died early in the morning of June 11, 2019.
She is survived by a grandson, Kent Paro of Florida, his wife Christy, and their daughters, Payton and Kiley. Donna’s sister, Roberta Harding, of Albany, Oregon, also survives her. Her brother, Douglas Mefford, of Lonepine, is also still living.
Her younger sister, Delores Didier, preceded her in death.
Donna is lovingly remembered by cousins, nieces and nephews, their families, many other relatives, and a host of friends and former neighbors.
The family wishes to thank Janice Donovan and Helen Jeakins who have been close friends of Donna during her later years. Their unflagging support provided quality to her life. Thanks are also extended to the staff of The Pines in Polson, where Donna lived during the last years of her life.
Any memorials can be sent to Dayton Presbyterian Church at Box 188, Dayton, MT 59914.
