Law officials ID Kalispell homicide victim
The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office has identified a man who was murdered in his Kalispell home Monday afternoon.
According to Flathead County Coroner Brian Heino, 67-year-old Paul David Kellenberger of Kalispell, was the victim of a homicide at a Lenwood Lane residence.
A forensic exam by the Montana State Crime Lab in Missoula determined that Kellenberger was assaulted, suffering a severe head injury. His cause of death was ruled a homicide.
The Sheriff’s Office was looking for a late 1980s or early 1990s blue Ford pickup that was seen leaving the scene of the crime, and Thursday, the office said the vehicle had been found.
“We’d like to thank the public for the cooperation and assistance in locating the driver of the vehicle,” Heino said. “The Detective’s Division is continuing their investigation into the details surrounding the events of July 15.”
Heino also said he appreciated the patience in supporting the family in its time to grieve and notification.
One man authorities believe may be involved in the incident was taken into custody Monday at a different location. Leigh Garrett Medina, 43, was arrested Monday on a probation violation. He is currently in the Flathead County jail.
The investigation continues, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
