Arleen Alice Macal, 82

Arleen Alice Macal, 82, passed away at her home in Columbia Falls on July 23, 2019.

Arleen was born on April 17, 1937, in Rochert, Minnesota, to William and Alice Olson.

She married Duane Macal on Feb. 6, 1955. They lived on a dairy farm near Frazee, Minnesota, until they moved to Columbia Falls in April 1972. Arleen enjoyed keeping her home for her husband and six children. She loved cooking, baking, gardening, flowers and all outdoor activities with her family and friends. She was best known for her baked goods including huckleberry cream pie. She showed her marksmanship skills by shooting a black bear out of her apple trees with a BB gun. Arleen was very involved with church activities at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and she loved her church family very much.

Arleen is survived by her six children, Sandy Gracey (Kevin), Diane Farnes (Dale), James Macal, Jeff Macal, Rob Macal, and Russ Macal (Barb); grandchildren, Dawn Knutson (John), Sarah Quick (Jason), Joseph Alexander (Ivy) and Kayla Nelson; and great-grandchildren, Korbin, Asher, Milo Knutson, Ezra and Tirzah Quick, and Elektra Alexander whom Arleen called Ellie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane Macal, in April of 2012.

A memorial service was held on Monday July 29, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Columbia Falls with Pastor Matt Nelson officiating.
