To commemorate more than 75 years as a community service organization, the Women of Rollins are hosting a reunion at noon, June 11, to honor past members, honorary members, current and prospective members.

A luncheon will be served. There will be door prizes and a chance to win the quilt created to commemorate the anniversary.

The Rollins School House was built in 1912 and used as a school until 1979. Today the Women of Rollins Club uses it for meetings, quilting, sewing for community projects and sewing of an annual quilt, which is raffled for scholarships and maintenance of the historic school house. An annual garage sale/bake sale will also be held July 27 to raise funds as the Women of Rollins are now the sole financial supporters of this historic building.

Rummage sale at Bigfork church

The annual Rags to Riches rummage sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, June 7; and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8, at Saint John Paul II Catholic Church, 195 Coverdell Road, in Bigfork. Clothing, tools, furniture, linens and collectibles will be for sale, along with baked goods. Free coffee will be available.

Woodland Water Park hosts Wednesday Family Nights this summer from June 12 to Aug. 14.

Flathead Electric awards safety grants

A $1,000 grant from Flathead Electric Cooperative’s Roundup for Safety program has been awarded to Flathead Industries for an automated external defibrillator (AED). In applying for the grant, Sarah Mathiason told the board that the device will be placed at their new day service facility in Kalispell.

“This facility provides support to over 30 individuals with disabilities, eight of whom are seniors with higher risk of medical complications,” Mathiason said. “Our staff is certified in AED use. We also make the devices available to the community and local emergency response teams when needed.”

The Roundup for Safety board also awarded grants worth almost $26,000 for the following safety-related community projects:

Youth With A Mission of MT — $2,000 for two AEDs

FSCO K-9 Program — $3,200 for K-9 first aid kits and drug lock boxes

Stillwater Free Lutheran Church — $2,000 for a security door

Community Action Partnership — $2,000 for a keyless entry system

Deer Park School District No. 2 — $7,499 for parking lot lighting

Whitefish Library Association — $3,000 for broken floor outlet replacements

Whitefish Housing Authority — $3,000 for security cameras for a parking lot

Fellowship Alliance Church — $1,500 for background checks for volunteers

Roundup for Safety is a voluntary program for Flathead Electric Cooperative members who allow their electric bills to be rounded up to the next dollar, with the extra money going into a fund for community nonprofit safety projects. Girl Scouts offers three summer camps

All girls, grades K-12, are invited to take a look at camp offerings from Girls Scouts of Montana and Wyoming.

From June through early August, Girl Scouts of Montana and Wyoming hosts a variety of camps for all girls at its three resident camp locations: Timbercrest Camp, Red Lodge; Camp Castle Rock, Butte; and Camp Sacajawea, Casper, Wyoming.

Camp themes include high adventure, archery, archaeology/geology, horses, ways of the Wild West, flying mechanisms, photography, arts, sailing, and more.

Eight weeks of resident camp are offered from June 7 through Aug. 16, at all three camps. Girls do not have to be in Girl Scouts to attend.

Flathead Pride Festival in downtown Kalispell

Glacier Queer Alliance, Flathead LGBT+Youth, and Love Lives Here are putting on the Flathead Pride Festival in downtown Kalispell on June 7-8 so the LGBTQ community has a place to celebrate.

Festivities begin with a kick-off party from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Bias Brewing, 409 First Ave. E., in Kalispell. There will be Pride swag, ice cream, and plenty of food and drinks.

Festivities continue at 8 p.m. at the Fireside Room at the Red Lion Inn Hotel Kalispell with the Nesting Doll Face Drag Show. Families are welcome. Performers will include several new and local personalities. The cover charge is $20 each for adults, $15 for students and seniors. Meet and greet starts at 8 p.m., and the show begins at 8:30 p.m. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

On Saturday, June 8, a Party in the Park will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Kalispell’s Depot Park. Sign waving for pro-LGBTQ issues gets under way at 11 a.m. Positive messages are encouraged. Speakers will begin at noon, followed by time to visit with LGBTQ-friendly organizations, enjoy food trucks, find out about LGBTQ history, and participate in a few fun activities.

One of the highlights of the Party in the Park is the body-positive campaign called #mybodymycanvas. This project uses tie-dyed shirts and stickers to express body image. T-shirts will be available for $20 each, along with a set of stickers for $10.

Wildfire information meeting in Apgar Village

The Montana House in Apgar Village in Glacier Park is hosting a wildfire information meeting for the West Glacier community at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 6.

Topics to be covered include personal readiness, neighborhood readiness, forest types and health, fire season expectations, climate change, fire history, evacuation communication and procedures.

Staff presentations and/or participating agencies include Montana DNRC, Glacier National Park, US Forest Service, Flathead County Emergency Services and Coram-West Glacier Volunteer Fire Department.

Questions and discussion points from the audience will follow the presentations.

The meeting is open to the local community and the general public. Seating is limited.
