Missoula downs Lakers
MISSOULA — It was a rough day Sunday for the Kalispell Lakers AA as they fell to the host Missoula Mavericks in an American Legion baseball doubleheader.
Scores were 8-1 and 11-6. The games marked the start of conference play for Kalisepll.
The Mavericks led 5-1 after three innings.
The Lakers had seven hits in the first game. Connor Drish led the way offensively with two hits and Eric Seaman had an RBI.
Taylor Morton had three hits, including a double, in the second game. Luke Halland added two hits, also including a double and Ryan Symmes had two hits in the second game.
Kalispell led the second game, 5-3 after its’ half of the sixth inning, but Missoula scored eight runs in the bottom of the inning.
The Lakers had a few defensive miscues, commiting three errors in the first game and four in the second. The Mavericks, meanwhile, were error-free in both.
The Lakers are 15-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

The Lakers A team opened conference play with a pair of victories Sunday over the Mavericks A squad. Both were one-run affairs, however, as the Lakers won 3-2 and 9-8.
Kalispell scored two runs in the top of the third to go ahead 3-2 in the first game.
AJ Wood held the Mavs scoreless after that. He gave up four hits, a walk and struck out three Maverick batters enroute to the win.
The second game was tight all the way as well with the teams tied at eight after five innings.
Mckade Schara scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.
Taylor Auerbach got the win.
Offensively, Thomas O’Connell had a double and an RBI and Ben Corriveau had a triple in the first game.
Gage Brink was 2-for-5 in the second game with a double and two RBI. Wood was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Caden Willis had a double and three RBI.
