Wardinsky baseball camp July 1 at

Griffin Field

The annual Ryan Wardinsky Flathead Valley Baseball Camp will be held July 1 at Griffin Field.

Wardinsky, a major league scout with the Miami Marlins, and Ryan Malmin, head coach of the Kalispell Lakers AA American Legion baseball team, will oversee the camp.

Campers, ages 8-and-up, will be given specialized instruction in hitting, infield and outfield play and base running.

The camp cost is $50.

Wardinsky enjoyed a stellar career with the Lakers and later at Texas A&M. He was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 37th round of the 1998 MLB Amateur Draft while a member of the Lakers. He was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 30th round of the 2002 MLB Amateur Draft while at Texas A&M.

Argo softball inks Glacier standout Atlee

GREAT FALLS — University of Providence head softball coach Joey Egan announced the addition of Alivia Atlee to the program on Tuesday.

Atlee joins the Argos following a four-year, three-sport career at Glacier High School. She was a four-year letter winner in softball and earned a pair of letters in volleyball and basketball.

On the diamond, Atlee was named first-team, all-state and all-state honorable mention for third base. She was a member of the Wolfpack 2015 state champion team during her freshman season. Glacier was the 2016 state runner-up her sophomore year.

Atlee was a team captain on her softball and volleyball teams her senior year. During her final softball season, she had a .484 batting average with an on-base percentage of .562 and a .919 fielding percentage.

“Alivia will be a great addition to our team athletically and academically,” Egan said in a press release. “She is a great hitter and solid at third base.”

In the classroom, Atlee was a four-time academic all-state honoree for volleyball and basketball and was a member of the national honor society during her junior and senior years.

Atlee was heavily involved in her community, volunteering for the Wolfpack Youth Softball Clinic, served as a volunteer referee for the Special Olympics basketball tournament at Glacier High School, helped out at the veterans’ food pantry and second helpings pantry, and assisted with the Glacier High School cross country meets.

Ace for Weber at Polson Bay Golf

Course

Fred Weber of Polson carded his first hole-in-one on Tuesday at Polson Bay Golf Course.

Weber aced the 128-yard ninth hole on the championship course with a 4 rescue.

Witnesses were Howard Crisp, Don Gnose and Jim Edwards.
